Reminiscing On My Gambian Experience

Source

We all need a vacation! You know you need a vacation when you start getting on your own nerves. Invariably i'm saying this girl is overdue for a vacation before she explodes, please be nice and suggest very lovely and affordable destinations.

What better way to let go, relax and recharge than to jet off to a cool vacation spot. This time, we headed to The Gambia, a country in West Africa with it's capital as Banjul for a 5day getaway. All travel arrangements (flights, airport pickup and hotel reservation) was made by wakanow.com.

The exciting and restful five (5) days was spent in the luxurious Sheraton Gambia Hotel Resort & Spa, located in Serekunda, Gambia less than thirty (30) minutes from Banjul International Airport (BJL). The experience was one of a kind having me reminiscing over a vacation i embarked on a long time ago.

Here's #mystay #review @SheratonGambia
Awesome Experience
- I loved the mix of modern and vintage architecture
- Courteous staffs; always smiling and ready to help
- Great ambiance and interior especially at the reception
- Rooms and bedding were clean, i loved the sea view
- We had great fun at the beach and pool side #MyCousinsRock
- I loved the shuttle service that takes you round the hotel
- The spa facilities were outdated compared to other hotels we visited
- The meal choices were good and varied. Breakfast at the Cremata Restaurant, a little snack and drink here and there at the beachfront and we ate out too (I am not such a foodie)"
Enjoy the stay pictures!

I didn't capture this. You know right?

We hit the pool immediately after unpacking just to calm our bodies from the 3hour journey. Please forgive me for the poor quality pictures!

On this day, we headed to Banjul Market to do some shopping. Unfortunately, there are no pictures. I wasn't comfortable taking pictures in the market because i wasn't sure of the traders' reaction.

Me and my crew: Bunny & Hovey

Shuttle Service available on request

The third day i guess, we went for lunch at The Coco Ocean Gambia Resort & Spa. Don't you just love the decor and lighting of the hotel entrance? It's so welcoming

After lunch, we went checking out the rooms, after all we are tourist. It's allowed

The Fourth day was spent at the Kachikally Crocodile Pool and Museum. It had a small pool side market where local fabrics, already-made clothes, bags and beads are sold.

*WARNING* The view below is for the brave hearts

The last day was spent indoor and at the Naatange Spa & Fitness Center for a little pampering and relaxation of the mind, body and soul (this was a complimentary package). A time at the Sauna and Steam room, a massage and a pedicure and i was set to head back to Nigeria.

What were you expecting to see?

This is my first Travel Profile Post #TPP, i hope you enjoyed it. I will be bringing more of my adventures, both local and international and i am sure it will get better than this.
Ps: This isn't a sponsored post, i had an awesome time and needed to share.

What else do you want me to include/see in the travel profile?

Great review. Gambia has become a choice spot for me. A friend went there for his honeymoon and had such great things to say about the Kachikally crocodile pool & musuem, the Tanger fish market and Independent museum. Thanks for affirming The Gambia is a great choice for vacation.
